Lyns Fall Basics

Hi everyone, its Lyn here! So Fall has pretty much arrived here in New England and I have mixed feelings about it. This time of year is really beautiful around here but it’s hard for me to forget that winter is coming which means brutal cold and lots of snow. But let’s focus on the positive. Here are a few things that make me happy about Fall:

First off, it would not be fall in New England without Pumpkin Spice Coffee from Dunkin. My husband came home a few weeks ago with my first pumpkin spice of the year and I was pretty excited.

Another one of my must haves for Fall are my riding boots. I am obsessed with my Frye Melissa boots and I actually love them so much that I own them in two colors. Probably one of my favorite things about this boot is that it is available in wide calf sizes. I have fairly large calves and I could never find a pair of boots that gave me enough room to be able to tuck in my jeans. I was so excited when I found these boots and they really are a staple for me especially in Fall and Winter. They look great with jeans and a flannel for a super comfortable look or I wear them with a cute top and leggings or even with a dress to go out to dinner. I love that I feel super cute wearing them but they are still very comfortable and practical for the cooler weather.

We get a bit of rain in the Fall so I also love wearing my Hunter Rain Boots. They are a little bit tight on my calves so I normally wear them with leggings. I’m not sure if I would have enough room to tuck in jeans. I also have very short legs and these do come up a bit higher on my leg, like I feel them rubbing on the back of my knee. Regardless, I love them and I actually get a little bit excited when I have an excuse to bust them out of my closet,

I recently purchased these Jeffrey Campbell booties and I love them. They are a perfect transition piece to wear going into Fall. They are very versatile and go with so many different outfits from leggings, jeans and even dresses. Unfortunately, these are sold out at Nordstrom but I also linked a pair from Vince Camuto that I love and are very similar.

I bought this top at Nordstrom last year and I wore it at least once a week. It is super soft and comfy. I also love that it is long enough to wear over leggings and can totally be dressed up or down. It has a deep V-Neck so I love pairing with either a cute necklace or a blanket scarf for extra coziness. I am so excited that it is back in stock this year and I may end up buying the black color as well.

This North Face vest was a recent addition to my wardrobe and when I first bought it, it honestly brought me back to middle school since I think that was the last time I wore a puffy vest. I actually really don’t like wearing coats, which is unfortunate since I live in New England and it gets quite cold. This is the perfect compromise for me because it provides some warmth but I don’t feel overly bulky and uncomfortable. It has also been really good for those in between Fall days where it is pretty chilly but not quite cold enough for the winter coat. This is definitely an investment piece that I am looking forward to using for at least a few years.

I absolutely adore the BP line from Nordstrom and these long sleeve tops did not disappoint. They are affordable and they come in a million colors. They are also super soft and go with everything. I sized up to a medium so that it covers my butt when I wear leggings. These are perfect to wear under my puffy vest. Unfortunately, these are currently sold out online but I also linked a similar top from BP that is also very affordable and comes in a ton of colors.

Transitioning into Fall definitely makes me want to wear a lot more dark denim than I do in the Summer and I have been obsessed with these jeans from Abercrombie. First of all, I have super short legs and these are the only jeans that actually fit me perfectly. I buy the “Short” length and since they are an ankle style they work for me. I also like that the distressing is not too much and the unfinished hem is totally on trend. Seriously, if I am not wearing leggings I am wearing these jeans.

I bought this tunic a couple of years ago and it is still one of my go-to wardrobe pieces. I actually just wore this in olive green out to my birthday dinner. I paired with leggings and my leopard Louboutin heels and it was perfect. It is just dressy enough for a dinner out but not too over the top. It is also super comfortable and I love how long it is so it looks great with leggings. I personally own it in three colors (black, olive and dark red/maroon) and I wouldn’t be surprised if I buy it in more colors. It is also so affordable so that makes it even better!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you found some inspiration for your Fall wardrobe!
