Hourglass Brand Review

Hello and welcome to another wonderful Thursday! I have recently been thinking a lot about which brands I use the most and I came across Hourglass. Over the last year I have acquired a few products from them and I wanted to share my thoughts!

All around I think Hourglass is a great brand and even better they just recently announced that they are taking the brand 100% vegan by 2020! The are already a cruelty free brand but they are making an even greater contribution to this cause by going completely vegan! They are also offering a vegan leather makeup bag where all proceeds will go to the Nonhuman Rights Project.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $46

Colors: Porcelain and Nude

This has been one of my go to full coverage foundations for awhile now! I usually shied away from stick foundations because they usually dry my skin out. So when I first tried this foundation I was pleasantly surprised that it worked well in both the oily and dry areas of my skin. The formula on this product is super unique and actually adjusts to your body temperature to easily blend in to the skin.

It’s also super buildable and highly pigmented so you can achieve a medium to full coverage. It has a satin finish which I think is what makes it work so well with a variety of skin types.

If you’ve read any of my posts before you have probably heard me say a million times that I have texture on my cheeks and nose. A lot of times full coverage foundations can enhance those areas and make them look even worse. But this product creates such a smooth and flawless application and even helps to hide the texture on my skin! Its also super long wearing and just get patchy or dry though out the day like some other full coverage foundations I have tried in the past.

One of my favorite things about this foundation is the large array of shades. There are 22 shades that range from very fair to deep and in a variety of undertones.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder $46

Color: Diffused Light

This powder has changed my life! I know that sounds super dramatic but I have never found a pressed powder that sets my under eyes (or face) as well as this product does. I normally like to use super finely milled loose powders since they give a flawless airbrushed look with out drying out the skin. But since I found this product I have been using it non stop (I have even hit pan already). I have never come across a pressed powder that is this soft! It sets down concealer and foundation so beautifully and doesn’t dry out the skin or make it look cakey at all!

I especially like the fact that this powder also helps to brighten the under eye. According to the Sephora website this powder has color correcting particles that also reflect light to help refine and soften the appearance of skin. I don’t know about you but that sounds like the best thing ever… Now I don’t know all the science behind the technology and magic particles but I can definitely say that when I use this product my skin (mostly under my eyes) looks smoother and brighter.

I haven’t tried any of the other Ambient Lighting Powders but they are definitely on my list!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Collection $38

Color: Dim Infusion

I am not a huge fan of blush, for some reason. Blushes were always just to pigmented for my skin tone and I could never fined a color that looked right for me. Until I came across these blushes. I know today people think intense pigment is something that a product needs to be good. But sometimes I think a buildable product is way more user friendly (just my opinion). Which is where these blushes come in, they give a nice wash of color on the cheeks which is perfect for me. But they are also super buildable so if you are someone who likes intense color on your cheeks you can definitely achieve that look!

These powders combine the same light reflecting technology of the Ambient Lighting Powder just with the added bonus of the beautiful hues. They blend seamlessly into the skin creating that beautiful wash of color like I mentioned. They also don’t look dry on the skin at all and help to reflect light being depth and dimension to the skin!

According to the Sephora website these powders are handmade so no two look identical! I think that is definitely a cool feature that makes these products even more unique.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer $50

Color: Radiant Bronze Light

This is my favorite high end bronzer to date! Bronzer is one of those products that I am always trying new items and looking for the next best thing. But this particular product is something that I always go back to. It gives a beautiful natural looking sun kissed glow. The powder never looks patchy and blends seamlessly into the skin.

Its also made with this magical particles that help to create depth and dimension on the skin but it combines this technology with bronze pigments the combination of these helps to create that natural look. The Sephora website describes it as a sheer, airy formula and I couldn’t agree more. When ever I wear this product I feel like it just melts into my skin. It does have a little bit of radiance to it so if you are someone who likes a full matte bronzer this may not be the product for you. But if you like a little glow with your bronze I would highly recommend this product!

Hourglass GIRL Lip Style $32

Color: Peacemaker

This is a newer product in my Hourglass collection. I had my eye on these lip products for awhile so when it was a Sephora 100 point perk I knew I had to pick it up. It gives wonderful color payoff while still being hydrating on the lips. Its surprisingly long wearing and perfect for every day wear. I also love the travel size so that I can throw it in my purse and carrying it around all day with me!

I have also noticed such a difference in my lips since using this product. It has a hydrating blend of shea butter, jojoba, mimosa, and sunflower seed which really helps to nourish dry lips. I love when products are dual purpose so this has really become a staple in my makeup routine!

I definitely have my eyes on a few more colors from this line!

I can’t wait to continue to explore this amazing brand, so I wanted to share a few more products that I want to try out!

~Hourglass – Illusion® Hyaluronic Skin Tint $56: This product is to help smooth out fine lines and give you a radiant, glowing complexion. Its also supposed to be super hydrating  definitely something I need as we transition into these colder months!

~Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 $80: This is a travel-friendly palette featuring some of their lighting essentials! I love their powders so this is a great way to try out some new ones!

~Hourglass – Confession Refillable Lipstick Set $54: This is their newest lip product and something that I have definitely been interested in. What better way to try it out then by getting an amazing deal on three colors!

~Hourglass – Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette $62: Their highlighting powders are the only powders I haven’t tried yet so this is definitely at the top of my list!

I hope this helped you decided which Hourglass products to try out! Let me know if there are any products that weren’t mentioned that you thinkI would like!

xoxo Mel

  1. I really love this brand also! I have only tried their ambient powders, I bought one of the trios and i love the diffused light for setting under my eyes as well. I have also tried their veil mineral primer which I did also enjoy. I would definitely like to venture out and explore more of their products, that’s so awesome they’re taking the brand 100% vegan!!
