Lyn’s Beauty Favs of 2017

Hi everyone! It’s hard to believe that 2017 is already over! I’m so excited to share with you some of the things that I have been loving this year. Some of this is new stuff that just came out this year and others are things that I discovered over the last 365 days. Since I have so many things that I want to mention I am going to try not to talk too much about each individual product!

SKINCARE:

Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Serum $58 One of my favorite bloggers raved about this product so of course I had to try it. I have been using it for about 6 months and it has become a staple in my skincare routine. My skin definitely feels more hydrated and smooth and creates a perfect canvas for makeup application. I am already on my second bottle!

Koh Gen Do Makeup Wipes $15-$43 KathleenLights always raves about these makeup wipes so even though they are crazy expensive, I decided to try them and now I am addicted! They are thicker than a typical makeup wipe and are so saturated I only need one to remove a full face of makeup. This is how I justify the outrageous price since I would have to use two of most other brands. I also really enjoy the Simple Micellar wipes if you are looking for a drugstore option.

Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo: Total Transformation Kit $85 Earlier this year I became completely obsessed with Sunday Riley products, especially the Luna Sleeping Oil and the Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment. I have been using these two products at night for the last 6 months and it has totally made a difference in my skin. Because my skin is so dry, I can get dry flaky patches that make every foundation look cakey and is so frustrating! Using these two products at night, I have not been having this issue and it has been super cold in New England. The only downside to these guys is the price but Sunday Riley does offer a few different sets that let you try smaller sizes of the products for less money. Another good idea is to get samples at your local Sephora so you can see if you love it before making the investment!

Farsali Unicorn Essence $20-$54 Farsali is one of many new exciting brands that debuted at Sephora this year and I am a huge fan. The Unicorn Essence is a great every day primer for me. The purple color is so pretty and I really enjoy the candy-like fragrance. It makes my skin feel so smooth and hydrated but without feeling heavy which a lot of other primers can do. In the winter, when I need a hydration boost, I love using the Rose Gold Elixir. I love using it in my under eye area so that my concealer does not crease or look cakey. It also feels great on my always chapped lips and really helps to smooth and hydrate them before using a liquid lipstick.

YSL All Hours Foundation $58 By far my favorite foundation of 2017 was the YSL All Hours Foundation. I am always nervous to try matte longwear foundations because they tend to emphasize my dryness. Before trying this one, I was a huge fan of the YSL Touche Eclat foundation but that one is definitely more of a radiant finish so for longer days or nights out I really wanted more of a matte finish. The shade BR30 is a perfect match for me so I tried the All Hours and ohmygod I immediately fell in love. It lasts all day, gives a matte finish but somehow still looks like my skin, just completely flawless. I don’t even know how it is possible. A lot of the reviews say that it is better for oily skin but I think every person is different so if you have been thinking of trying it out, I say definitely go and get a sample at either Sephora or a YSL makeup counter.

Colourpop No Filter Concealer $6 I think it is safe to say the Colourpop has totally hit it out of the ballpark this year. They were constantly coming out with new releases and almost made me go broke. Just kidding. My favorite new product that they released was the No Filter Concealer. It is the perfect amount of coverage for me, doesn’t crease and blends out beautifully. And the price point is amazing at only $6. My only complaint is that my shade is currently sold out so I am hoping that it comes back in stock soon before I run out.

Kat Von D Lock Blotting Powder $29 Because of my dry skin I am very picky about powders but the Kat Von D Lock It Blotting Powder is amazing. It does not look dry at all and does an awesome job of keeping my makeup from breaking up on my chin and forehead. I also just received the Charlotte Tilbury setting powder for Christmas and so far it is amazing but I didn’t include it in this post since I have only been using it for a couple of weeks.

Marc Jacobs Bronzer in Tan-Tastic (N/A) My favorite bronzer of 2017 is definitely the Marc Jacobs Bronzer in Tan-tastic. Mel has already talked about this and it is pretty much impossible to get anymore but it is seriously amazing. I am praying that Marc decides to bring this back and make it permanent!

Physician’s Formula Butter Blushes $12.99 I’m a huge fan of Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer so I was very excited when they came out with blushes earlier this year. I tried the 2 shades that they carry at Ulta and didn’t fall in love but then I found the shade Rosy Pink at my local Wal-Mart and it was a totally different story. The blushes have the same intoxicating scent that the bronzers have and I love the light wash of color. I have a bit of a heavy hand with blush so these are perfect for me.

COVERFX Custom Enhancer Drops $42 I saw the COVERFX Custom Inhancer drops all over YouTube this year but was a little nervous to try them out. When I finally did, I fell in love. I place a drop or two on the high points of my cheekbones and then blend in with my finger. If I go to heavy, I will use a damp sponge to sheer it out. The finish is a beautiful, “natural” highlighted look. If I want to amp it up a bit, I will use a powder highlight over top.

EYE MAKEUP:

Marc Jacobs Highliner in Earthquake $25 This was my  favorite eyeliner of the year! This liner is so smooth and creamy and just glides onto the waterline. I wore it all day in Disney and it did not transfer at all.

Stila Glitter and Glow Shadows $24 I love glitter so I was very excited when the Stila Glitter and Glow shadows came out. They are so much easier to apply than loose glitter and they look fabulous on the eye. I own four different shades (Kitten Karma is my favorite) and I am thinking of buying more.

Colourpop Where the Light Is $18 I purchased the Colourpop foursome Where the Light Is just before New Years Eve last year so I am going to include it in this list. We are huge fans of KathleenLights so of course we own all of her Colourpop collabs. I love the unique formula of the Super Shock shadows and the shades in this set create a perfect bronze-y look that can be used for day or night. This has become one of my go to looks because I can do it in a few minutes. I actually just it pan in the shade kathleenlights. Wahhhh!

Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara $72 I started using the Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash mascara a few months ago and unfortunately I am obsessed with it! This stuff is so expensive but I get so many compliments on my lashes when I wear it. It does not transfer under my eyes and it is not overly difficult to remove. My tube is almost dried up so I am thinking of trying the still expensive but slightly cheaper Faux Cils version which is apparently the same formula without the lash growth peptide.

LIPS:

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Lip Booster $23 I have horribly chapped lips so the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Lip Booster is a life saver for me. I put it on along with the rest of my skincare so by the time I get to lips, they feel moisturized and primed for lipstick. I cannot recommend this product enough.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Koko K It’s hard to pick a favorite lip color of the year because I am constantly switching things up. I absolutely love the Colourpop Ultra Satin formula but my favorite shade was discontinued. My other go to is the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Koko K. The formula is a bit more drying than some others but I love this shade of pink. I am very picky about my lip colors and I am always on the hunt for the perfect nude lip. This is a bit more pink but works well with my skin tone.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask $20 The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is another life saving product for my dry lips. I love how it comes with a little applicator so I do not have to dip my finger into the pot. My lips feel so hydrated in the morning but without the greasy feeling that a lot of other lip product leave behind.

Whew! This was a long post. Originally I wanted to add some non beauty products like hair and body but since this was so long I decided to save that for another post! I hope everyone found some great products that they love in 2017 and I can’t wait to see what new launches are in store for 2018!
