Tested: Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum

Vitamin C serums have always been a staple in my skincare routine and one of my favorite types of products to test out. I love vitamin c in my skin care products to help even my skin tone and give my skin a healthy glow. The most recent vitamin c product that I have been tasing out is the new Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum! This serum retails for $87 and can be found at a number of retailers including SkinStore.

Now lets discuss the claims and ingredients in this product! The Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum specifically claims to help brighten, firm and create a more radiant complexion. It does so by renewing the skin’s surface and preventing / correcting free radical damage. This serum is ideal for all skin types including oily, dry, normal, mature and even sensitive skin. Some of the key ingredients include;

Ascorbosilane SP: a highly stable vitamin C derivative, this helps penetrate the skin to maximize bioavailability and strengthen skin’s natural defenses

K3 Vita C: form of vitamin C, particularly effective at reducing production of melanin (which causes age spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation)

Peptides: boosts collagen production and protects against collagen degradation. Helps to firm skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Lactic Acid: accelerates cell turnover to reveal smoother, brighter skin with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Sophora Japonica Flower Extract: stimulates skin’s internal anti-oxidative defense system, returning it to a calm state after experiencing oxidative stress.

I absolutely love the texture of this serum. Its super light weight, almost watery on the skin. It absorbs super easily without leaving a film or feeling sticky. I find that vitamin c products can be a tad tricky and I find myself more often then not disliking the product only based on its texture. But this product has been one of my all time faves texture wise! As for results I found that this serum did an amazing job at evening out my skin tone. I noticed that the few dark spots on my skin have drastically diminished and over all my skin appears to be brighter. This was something I saw about a month into using the product so I would definitely be patient. As for some immediate results after the first use my skin appeared to be plump and smoother. The only claim that I didn’t really see results with was the reducing of fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t have a ton of fine lines or wrinkles yet so its hard for me to day whether or not this claim is accurate. The main aspect of this product that really impressed me was the lack of irritation I experienced. My skin is very sensitive so sometimes I have to be careful applying very potent ingredients. I have found that some vitamin c products can be to concentrated and cause purging or irritation on my skin. But this product was the perfect balance between seeing results and being gentle on the skin.

If you are looking for a new vitamin c product to add to your skincare routine I would highly recommend this product!
