The Exfoliating Acid for the Sensitive Skinned Girl

For sensitive skin exfoliating is one of the hardest steps to get right. Physical exfoliants can be to harsh and sometimes chemical exfoliants can cause irritation. So where is the happy medium? For the last few months I have been desperately trying to answer this question. I have been testing out a few exfoliating products, some physical and some chemical, and I have finally found products that actually work for my sensitive skin. Today I wanted to discuss my favorite chemical exfoliant, Farmacy’s Honey Moon Glow Night Serum.

What is it? Well its an AHA based resurfacing night serum that also contains honey to help hydrate the skin while it exfoliates. I’v mentioned before that my skin responds extremely well to products that contain honey which is why this works so well for me. Most AHA / BHA products usually cause my skin to become extremely dry and irritated so I have always avoided them. But because this product also contains a hydrating agent I have found that my skin actually looks and feels better after using it. Another unique factor about this product is that its a blend of AHA / BHAs but also of natural gentle flower acids. I think having that natural factor also helps to reduce the likelihood of irritation for my skin.

All of that is great right, but what is it supposed to do? According to the Farmacy website this product is supposed to help resurface, hydrate and clarify dull skin while you sleep.

Honeymoon Glow also helps reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles to reveal a healthy, more youthful complexion and a natural glow—no wedding required.” -Farmacy Beauty

I also wanted to go over some of the key ingredients in this product. I know for me and my sensitive skin ingredients have become a main factor in which products I choose to use.

First up the blend of acids:

This concoction is made up of a 10% AHA Blend of Lactic, glycolic, citric and fruit acids. These help to exfoliate dead skin cells, promote cell renewal, target hyperpigmentation and help reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. It is also 1% BHA a natural salicylic acid from willow bark that helps reduce the appearance of pores. An finally the 3% natural flower acid blend containing hibiscus flower extract to gently exfoliates while moisturizing skin. There is also the appearance of Hyaluronic Acid which Hydrates and plumps by drawing water to the skin and helping to prevent moisture loss.

And last but not least and the star of the show for me; the Proprietary Honey Blend.

“Known for its soothing and humectant properties, this special honey provides skin-loving moisture and nourishment, plus antioxidants.” -Farmacy Beauty

All in all if you have sensitive skin and haven’t found an exfoliating product that works for you I would highly recommend trying this product. It hits all my marks that I didn’t even know were possible for an exfoliating acid (such as being hydrating and soothing). Even after the first use I noticed such a difference in the appearance and texture of my skin. Farmacy has been a brand that I have come to love in the last year. All of their products have been doing wonders for my sensitive skin and I can’t to see what they do next!

Up next in my exfoliating products for sensitive skin series: My favorite physical exfoliant.

Stay tuned!
